Questions? We've got you covered.

What does my first wellness exam include?

Your pet’s first exam includes everything from nose to tail. We’ll check their weight, temperature, teeth and gums, ears, eyes, heart, lungs, abdomen, and musculoskeletal system. We’ll also conduct regular diagnostic tests and give your pet any vaccinations they may need. Wellness exams are a great time to ask questions and bring up any concerns you may have about your pet.

Why does my pet need a wellness exam?

Wellness exams help prevent commonly treatable diseases and detect health conditions as early as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment increases the chance of positive outcomes for your pet.

Preventative medicine is the best medicine! It’s often more affordable (and better for your pet) than the cost of treatments, so we strongly recommend keeping up with your pet’s regular check-ups.

My pet is healthy. Do they still need wellness exams?

Yes, all pets need regular wellness exams, even if they seem healthy. Our pets can’t tell us if something’s wrong and they can be quite talented at hiding signs of illness. Regular wellness exams help us catch issues early on so we can best treat them. Plus, all pets need regular vaccine boosters, even if they’re healthy.

My cat is an indoor cat. Do they still need wellness exams?

Yes, they do! Indoor cats can still develop issues like weight and hormone problems, genetic conditions, and tumors, among other things. Cats are experts at hiding pain and illness, so wellness exams help us catch issues early on and allow for treatment before they become advanced.  Plus, indoor cats need regular vaccine boosters just like outdoor pets.

How often does my pet need a wellness exam?

The frequency of wellness exams depends on your pet’s age and health. During puppy and kittenhood, frequent check-ups are important to ensure they’re developing normally and to provide them with all of their early vaccines. For adult cats and dogs, wellness exams are recommended every six months. Senior pets those with chronic conditions usually require wellness exams more often than other pets. Our vets will be able to advise on the recommended care schedule for your pet’s specific needs.

Should I bring anything to the appointment with me?

If you have previous medical records for your pet, you can email them to us at records@junovet.com. If this is your pet’s first wellness exam at Juno, please bring a fecal sample with you if possible. You can bring the sample in a regular dog poop bag or any other enclosed plastic bag or disposable container. Otherwise, just bring your pet!
